Southampton is a community of 3083 people on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County, and close to Port Elgin Ontario, Canada, located at the mouth of the Saugeen River. A charming downtown, natural attractions, vacation and cottage rentals, and family based events make it a popular destination.
The community has maintained much of its historic charm, and a strong civic pride in its history. Our towns are small and friendly with many organizations and volunteers creating a strong sense of community. The Lonely Planet – Canada guide book (April 2005) says this about Southampton, “Of all the small resort towns on Lake Huron or South Georgian Bay, Southampton is the best place to base yourself for a beach holiday that also has some rainy-day options”
Southampton became part of the municipality of Saugeen Shores in the 1990s. Saugeen Shores is made up of Southampton, Port Elgin, and the former Township of Saugeen. The community of Southampton continues to expand. It has become a bedroom community and a retirement destination, as well as a tourist destination. It is within 40 kilometers of Bruce Power nuclear power station.

Real Estate Profile
Over 100 homes from Southampton’s early days still stand, many adorned with an historical plaque noting the name of the builder, his occupation and the year the home was built. There is a real mix of homes and it is hard to find 2 that are the same. There are many older, quaint cottages and some of the new builds are taking on a coastal “Hampton’s” look. Several new subdivisions offer a variety of new homes that are identified on the map below. And don’t forget the fantastic selection of Lake Huron waterfront cottages from classic to Nantucket to ultra modern.
